11 Weeks, 3 Days

Dear Animal Cracker,
We have known about you for exactly 6 weeks today. We don’t know if you are a boy or a girl, but we do know your name, and that we love you, and that we are excited and terrified. Terrified because two before you have been lost, and we have been left disappointed and devastated, and we want you. We want you so much!
You might always wonder why we call you our animal cracker. Daddy and I were at our first ultrasound for you, and when we saw you on that screen we were immediately filled with joy. And then, because you’ve made me a hysterical weepy mess, I began to laugh. You didn’t really have fingers or toes yet, just arms and legs and you looked like an adorable little animal cracker! I thought it was the funniest thing I had ever said, “Animal crackers in my uterus!” Yelling and singing loud enough for your Daddy to look at me funny, and probably for everyone in the waiting room to hear. That’s when I decided you were going to be fine. I was going to do everything in my power, everything on this green Earth that I could, to let you be fine. You are going to be fine, Peyton, no matter what it takes.
I love you!
